Rescuers embarked on a 30-mile journey to rescue a small kitten on Christmas Eve, ensuring he received the necessary surgery to save his life. Introducing Benny, the adorable feline!
The staff at the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee in Charleston, West Virginia never take a day off when it comes to saving animals in need. Even on the day before Christmas, they didn’t hesitate to drive 30 miles to rescue a kitten in urgent need of help.
Dorella Tuckwiller, the founder of the organization, affectionately named the little ginger kitten Benny and didn’t think twice about spending another holiday at the emergency clinic to ensure he received the care he needed.
The call had come from B.A.R.C. Boone Animal Rescue Coalition about Benny, who had a badly injured tail that needed immediate attention. Despite the fact that the vet clinic was closed until Tuesday, the shelter was determined to get Benny the help he needed and reached out to Tuckwiller for assistance. She never hesitated to provide the care and love that Benny deserved.

Tuckwiller embarked on a long journey to Madison, West Virginia at the crack of dawn on Christmas Eve to bring Benny home. “The stench from the infection was overpowering, engulfing the car and assaulting my senses as I rushed him to the Emergency Clinic.”
Upon arrival, the little kitten was promptly administered pain relief and started on a course of antibiotics. A short while later, he underwent surgery to have his infected tail removed, a life-saving procedure.

Benny had a blissful night’s sleep, wrapping up in love and warmth.
Benny is making a remarkable recovery post-surgery. He’s a real fighter! While we may never know for certain, it’s suspected that a dog caused his injuries. One thing is certain though, Benny will get all the medical care he requires and will always be surrounded by love and security.
